LLM Parameters: A Beginner’s Guide
Getting started with Generative AI can feel overwhelming due to the abundant technical terms. This guide breaks down essential terminology into simple, digestible explanations that anyone can understand.
Generative AI
Think of Generative AI as a creative digital artist. It creates new content — whether text, images, music, or code — by learning patterns from existing data. Just like how a human artist learns from studying other artworks, generative AI learns from analyzing millions of examples.
Large Language Model (LLM)
A Large Language Model is like a super-powered predictive text system. It’s trained on massive amounts of text data to understand and generate human-like language. Popular examples include GPT-4 and Claude. When you type “The weather is,” it can predict what might come next based on patterns it has learned.
Training Data
This is the educational material for AI. If you want to teach a child about animals, you show them pictures and tell them stories. Similarly, training data is all the content we feed into AI systems so they can learn patterns and generate similar content.
